Brest is situated to the far west of Brittany in the Finistère, a buzzing town home to a population of around 150,000 habitants. Brest is a famous maritime hub and an important French military port, second only to Toulon. It’s also a university town and counts around 20,000 students amongst its numbers! Touring Brest has never been easier to visit, largely thanks to a tramway service that was installed in 2012. Book a flight to Brest and explore its castle, the maritime museum, the Recouvrance quarter with its Breton roots, not forgetting the impressive Océanopolis aquarium and park. You can easily reserve a hotel room close to Brest’s landmarks and surrounds. Hop on a boat to Ouessant and Molène Islands that are found just off the tip of Saint-Mathieu. If you’re pressed for time, you could always take short flight from Brest Bretagne Airport to Ouessant. Brest and the Finistère are perfect for countryside hikes, taking boat trips along the coast and unwinding in one of the many seaside spas.
