Paris Charles de Gaulle

23 km northeast of Paris is the leading French airport, Paris CDG, the second busiest transport hub in Europe. It is known by several names: Roissy Charles de Gaulle, Roissy or simply Charles de Gaulle. With more than 60 million passengers in the year 2012, it ranks seventh in the world in terms of passenger traffic.

Paris Orly

Paris Orly Airport (or Orly Airport) is 14 km south of Paris in the Val de Marne and Essonne departments. It offers domestic and international flights to the Middle East and the French overseas territories. Ranked the second busiest airport in France with passenger traffic of nearly 25 million passengers, it is particularly well served in terms of transport (Buses, Noctilien-night buses, RER, Tramway, Orlyval) and other means of transport (Roads, Taxis).

Nice Côte d’Azur

Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is ranked third in French airports in terms of passenger traffic. Located at the end of the Promenade des Anglais, in the Arenas district and on the Var estuary, it offers arriving travellers a stunning view of the Niçoise region from the mountain slopes down to the seashore. Marseille Provence Airport (formerly Marseille-Marignane), the fifth busiest airport in France in terms of passenger traffic, is located halfway between Marseille and Aix en Provence. It currently offers nearly 130 regular routes which places it in second position for French airports, its passenger traffic has increased impressively in recent years. The city of Marseille is ideally located and served by a significant ensemble of other modes of transport (TGV, buses and cruise ships), making it an important catchment area and transit zone.

Toulouse Blagnac

Toulouse (or Toulouse-Blagnac) airport is located north west of Toulouse, about 7 km from the city centre. Most of the runways are near the town of Blagnac (the airport was built on Blagnac's former airfield). It also adjoins the townships of Cornebarrieu et Colomiers. Flights to and from Toulouse airport give travellers stunning views over the Pyrenees mountain range, and Pech David hill, a plateau bordered by the Garonne and an excellent location for spotters who benefit from its perfect vantage point for watching air traffic, on the other hand the climate is quite mild making it ideal for escapades (mild temperate climate).

Basel Mulhouse Fribourg

The Basel-Mulhouse airport (or Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg airport) is a Franco-Swiss airport situated in France to the south of Alsace, in the township of Saint Louis. The major international destinations served are those in the Mediterranean (Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, Israel) and those in Western Europe. However this airport also offers destinations like Canada, Spain and even the Republic of Cape Verde. Ranked the seventh busiest airport in France and the third in Switzerland with more than 5 million passengers in 2012 (of which more than half were through the airline EasyJet), Basel-Mulhouse airport is one of France's leading airports.

Bordeaux Mérignac

Bordeaux-Merignac Airport is located 10 km west of Bordeaux. It received more than 4.4 million passengers in 2012, the main destination being Paris-Orly, closely followed by Lyon Saint Exupéry. This airport also has flights destined to foreign countries, such as England, Spain, Canada and Italy. The airport is particularly well designed and organised and can deal with 11 planes embarking/disembarking simultaneously, with quick and easy access to different aircraft and connections. Also of note its latest terminal, called Billy, dedicated to low cost airlines.

Beauvais Tillé

Beauvais-Tillé (or Paris Beauvais airport) airport is 2 kilometres north of Beauvais and 70 kilometres from Paris. Opened in 1979 and expanded in December 2010 with the addition of a second terminal, it ranks ninth amongst French airports in terms of passenger traffic, with nearly 4 million passengers in 2012. Entirely dedicated to low price air traffic, it offers a simple reception and facilities devoid of anything superfluous, enabling it to offer services and flights at the best prices.

Nantes Atlantique

The Nantes-Atlantique Airport (formerly International Airport Chateau Bougon), is located south-west of Nantes and adjoins the townships of Bouguenais and Saint-Aignan-Grandlieu. Renowned for the volume of its holiday flight traffic ranked the tenth busiest French airport, Nantes Atlantique handles around 3.5 million passengers every year on domestic or international flights, which is the airport's maximum capacity. Because of this, traffic should shortly be moved to the brand new Grand Ouest Notre Dame des Landes airport which should come into service by 2017.
