At five kilometres from Papeete, Faa’a is Tahiti’s international airport and largest commune. By the time you’ve heard ‘La Orana’, the local greeting, you’ll have already fallen in love with French Polynesia. Let the holidays begin! Never has the word ‘paradise’ been so apt… Book a flight to Tahiti and explore the Leeward Islands, where seaside activities, wonderful landscapes and friendly people await. Beach lovers will adore PK18 with its white, sandy beach whilst surfers shouldn’t miss the huge swells at Teahupoo. If you fancy an adventure, hire a 4WD to Lake Vaihiria, a stunning volcano lake in the mountains of Tahiti. Hop on a catamaran and let the local trade winds guide you to the neighbouring islands of Mooréa, Huahine, Raiatea, Tahaa and the famous lagoon at Bora-Bora. Reserve a hotel room in Tahiti or on one of French Polynesia’s other idyllic islands. And it’s not just the scenery that’s a dream – the food’s pretty good too! Sample a lemon chicken from one of Papeete’s ‘roulottes’ or takeaway vans, tuck into Mahi Mahi fish drizzled with vanilla sauce (this is the Vanilla Island after all) and, to help you digest, hit the dancefloor for a Tamouré!
